Well, we're now in trouble, Campbell is crawling and very mobile! He's having fun crawling, and standing and walking with support! Nothing is safe anymore! And changing nappies has become a nightmare! Cam has also figured out how to play his recorder (once mine, from schooldays long since past!), and its become one of his favourite toys!

Hats

I was cleaning out Campbell's drawers today, and found a small drawer full of hats.  Decided to try them on Campbell, to see how big, or rather how small, they were.  I thought I'd post a comparison of when he first tried these hats on, and what they look like now!
This photo was taken about half an hour after he was born...

And today!  This is the best photo I could get, because he kept ripping it off!

This blue hat was worn a lot over the first few weeks of Cam's life.  This photo was taken on the day he came home, at 8 days old.  The ribbing of the hat is folded up.

And today!  It fitted him, albeit quite tightly, like a skull cap!

Laundry basket fun

Campbell enjoys helping me hang out the clothes on a nice, warm day...

...then enjoys some feline company while having a bit of outdoor tummy time!

Campbell has started sitting like this, with one leg behind him - somehow this must be genetic, because Danial used to sit like this when he was a wee tyke!

Anyone remember how when I was pregnant, everytime I ate venison I got kicked from the inside?
Well, here's Campbell's first taste of venison on the outside!  He loved it, he chewed this piece of back steak for quite a while!

First swimming lesson

After some early morning panicking (first getting to the wrong pool, then had been given the wrong time!), Campbell finally had his first swimming lesson.  His entrance into the pool was accompanied with a bit of crying, but after the first 5 minutes he loved it!  Just like a massive bath!  He ended up having half an hour with the 2-year-olds, then nearly another half hour with his own class (under 1 year or so)!  While Daddy had the first class in the water with Campbell, Mummy went crazy with the camera, although unfortunately a lot were blurry.  Here's just a few...

Busy, busy, busy!

The past month has been pretty busy for us all - we had some help from Sandra, Danial's mother, putting in a brand spanking new flatpack kitchen and wallpapering Campbell's room! Not quite finished, but most of it got done. It is so amazing having a nice, functional kitchen!

Campbell loves his new wallpaper, and his awesome grandma!

And trying out his cool camo sunglasses!

Campbell tried vegemite on his bread the other day, here's his response (I think he wasn't so keen)....

Campbell's also been busy getting on with new milestones .... his first tooth popped through 2 days before he turned 8 months old, and his behaviour over the last 2 days leads me to believe his second tooth may not be too far away! He rolled completely from his back to his tummy by himself last night, and today went from sitting over onto his tummy! Maybe it won't be much longer before he starts to move around... eek!

7 months old today!

My wee man is 7 months old, I can't believe how quickly he is growing up! We had some playtime outside, since it was such a warm day and there was a little cloud cover to get some good photos. And I got some great photos! Just a couple here, I won't go overboard uploading them all! The cats came out to play as well...

We got an exersaucer off Trademe last week, and picked it up on Friday - Campbell loves it, and really goes to town in it! Check out what he gets up to ....

Catchy creations

The lovely ladies at Catchy Creations, a free graphics website, have made these forum signatures for me, using a couple of wonderful photos that Sandra took on Campbell's naming day ... awesome, don't you think?

A week in Masterton

I've finally got round to downloading and uploading a whole heap of photos taken during our week in Masterton, a couple of weeks ago. We all had a blast, except for the flights (particularly during descent, my little boy hated it - apologies to those on the plane who had to endure his screaming!).

On Saturday 8th August, Campbell turned 6 months old! I really have no idea where the time has gone, my tiny prem baby has grown into a special wee boy. We ended up having the best naming day for him that Saturday, a nice casual day for a special occasion. My dad organised a tree planting for us in the Millenium Reserve in Masterton - we all planted a native tree each in our own special patch. Campbell has a young kahikatea that will grow as tall and strong as he will.
On the Tuesday, we had a baby catch up - two of my online friends came over from the Hutt and Feilding, and an old childhood friend and Campbell's cousin Zach came over as well. With Cam in the photo, are Chelsea and Tessa.

While we were there, Campbell started sitting by himself for good periods of time - we got a bit of video of him doing it!

My busy wee boy....

As Campbell rapidly approaches the 6-month old mark, he's been busy with reaching other milestones too. He's got his own highchair now, which he loves! He has a sippy cup - he hasn't got the hang of holding it himself yet, but I got annoyed with the stupid non-spill lid, so he sips water from the cup without the lid on, like a big boy, and I hold the cup for him.

He is obsessed with his toes at the moment- every chance he gets, his legs are high in the air and he's playing with them! He rolled from his back to his side yesterday while playing with them, now he just needs to get right over to his tummy!

He is also close to sitting up unsupported - his best attempt is 11 seconds before toppling and landing in mummy's arms! Today he managed to correct himself when he began to go sideways, but then he overcorrected and went over in the opposite direction! Soon he won't need me backing him up at all! He is growing up so fast!

Just to finish off, here's his latest baby babble, filmed today - he was busy telling me how much fun he had today catching up with his little friends, Lachlan and Emily....

Bath time cutie

Campbell looked so cute wrapped up in his hooded towel a couple of nights ago, that I couldn't resist taking a photo....

First taste of solid(ish) food...

On Monday and Tuesday, I had a baby demanding a feed every 2 or 2 1/2 hours and getting very upset and frustrated with me! I wondered if he was starting to want more in the way of food, so bought a couple of emergency tins of organic baby food, in case of another meltdown. Then on Tuesday night, the ratbag was refusing to go to sleep, so was up when we had our own tea. As Campbell sat on my lap, he watched Dan intently as he ate - his little tongue poked out, and he was making wee chewing movements; all good signs of a baby ready ready for solids! So we got a tin of apple puree out, and offered some to him. He ate about 3 or 4 teaspoons eagerly, and ended up with some down his chin!
The day after his taste of solids, Campbell turned 5 months old! The wee man is growing up so fast!

We actually had a nice sunny day today in Dunedin, the first for many, many days! Campbell and I played for awhile outside in the grass, he loved the feel of it in his fingers!

And here's another cute photo - Campbell loves his little yellow ducky that his Grandad gave him to play with at bath time!

Campbell's first cold

I know it had to happen some time, but it's not fun seeing your baby unwell. Campbell, Danial and myself all woke up on Wednesday with a horrible cold. The poor wee bub had a temperature on Wednesday, then developed two swollen spots on the back of his neck on Thursday, so I decided to take him to the doctor. The concerned mum's fears were allayed by the doc, who looked him over and said he'll be fine in a week, and to bring him back if he got worse.
Well, funnily enough, Campbell has been feeling much better today - better than Danial and myself! We are both sniffling, sneezing and coughing and feeling sorry for ourselves, and Cam has been smiling and playing happily!

Weekend fun...

Campbell had his Nana and Grandad down from Masterton this last weekend - he enjoyed it so much he decided he didn't want to waste it sleeping! So the last two days he's been trying to catch up on his sleep... this morning he woke at 6am again after missing his 3am feed; I can only hope it continues, but maybe next time he could wake at 7am?

Here's a photo of Cam with his Nana, when I get hold of some more photos of the weekend, I'll post more.

The wee man is also starting to sit up better, with some pillows behind him, and he's enjoying it! Wow, it probably won't be long before he can sit up all by himself!

Getting closer to sleeping through the night...

Campbell and I woke up this morning when Dan's alarm clock went off at 6am, and fell on the floor! After a few groggy seconds, I realised Cam hadn't woken me for a 3-4am feed! And I'm sure he wouldn't have woken up for another hour if Dan hadn't knocked over the alarm clock.
However, I'm also sure he probably won't do it again tonight, no doubt there will be another 3-4am feed tomorrow morning. But we are getting closer to that magical time when he will no longer want an early morning feed, yay!

So I've discovered a new way of sharing news, photos and video of my favourite little man - the blog!

The little sausage is four and a half months old now, and I can't believe how quickly he's growing and developing! He's big enough now for his Jolly Jumper - check it out!

And here's another vid of Campbell having fun with his Daddy...
