...ooh, and we have a first step!

Tonight I was calling Campbell over to change his nappy - I think he was leaning against the sofa - and he turned around, and realised he was just standing there.  So I excitedly called to him, expecting him to hop down and crawl to me, as he normally does.  And he smiles, and moves one leg deliberately, takes a single step then falls towards me!  So it's not exactly walking, but the first "step" to walking!  Hee hee hee, oh I kill myself with my witty puns....

We have a climber ...

So we knew already that Campbell can climb both the garden steps, and the house stairs, if given a chance (not very often!) .... well, mummy left her plastic craft bin out near the coffee table, and soon discovered it also doubles as a step ladder!

Now mummy and daddy have to be careful they don't leave any other "step ladders" around!

Another step closer to walking

Now that Campbell is past the 1 year mark, he decided to take the next “step” towards walking by himself – he loves using his walker by himself, and races across the room.  Only problem is its a short room, and he keeps bumping into things!  He gets very frustrated when it won’t keep moving, and mummy has to keep turning it around for him!

Not a baby anymore!

My baby is no longer a baby, he's a year old!  Had his party at Long Beach on Sunday, here he is cutting his cake.  Will post more pics when I can get hold of some (I only took a couple myself, what a bad mummy!).

We spent his actual birthday at the cricket - 2nd one dayer between NZ and Bangladesh.  Campbell's first cricket game!  He had fun, despite the lack of crawling space - the grounds were packed!  He had his own toddler-sized fold-up chair, which is ultra cute!

And we managed to get an awesome deck built at the back of the house, with the help of my dad!  Its been a busy few days!

A few January photos

Okay, here's a few photos from the month just been...

Campbell's first splash around in his wading pool...

A day at Long Beach (on a very foggy day).... Campbell had fun eating most of the beach - sand, seaweed, the lot!

Kitchen progress

I've been meaning to put up new photos of the kitchen since Sandra left, and I've only just got round to doing it.  So here we go....

Not the best photos in the world, but they show the new wallpaper and tiles - Sandra did an awesome job!  Not much left to do in the kitchen, finish painting the window and top of the bannister, put kickboards on underneath cabinets and then flooring.  Yay!
